In my practice, you will have my full attention for an entire hour (a bit longer on the first visit). We will have time to talk through your situation, perform a full evaluation to get to the root of the problem, then customize a treatment plan for you that will allow you to return to the activities you most enjoy.
Given my background with yoga, we can use yoga as the therapeutic exercise that will help you return back to optimum functioning. Or if yoga is not for you, we can use traditional PT exercises.
I truly believe that the style of yoga that I am trained in is perfect for healing with its focus on precision, alignment, posture and breath. It’s not only perfect for the body but also the mind and soul!
PHYSICAL THERAPY
My practice varies from acute to chronic injuries, degenerative changes and sports injuries. The majority of my practice concentrates around spine issues as well as peripheral areas such as the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. If I feel that I can’t treat your condition, I will refer you to someone who can.
In therapy, I stress the importance of proper alignment and movement, and will educate you on how faulty movement patterns and prolonged postures can lead to tissue damage. I incorporate manual therapy to help restore proper movement of the joints and soft tissues and then teach you how to move correctly so as to reduce the symptomatic tissue stress.
If appropriate, I will use exercise as the primary method for healing as movement is so important to the body. I believe that by providing you with a tailor-made home exercise program, you will then have the necessary tools to continue taking responsibility for your health throughout your life.
My skill sets include:
- Therapeutic exercise (including yoga based exercise)
- Postural retraining
- Manual therapy including Mulligan techniques
- Kinesiotaping
YOGA
Private Yoga:
I enjoy creating yoga programs for individuals who may have particular limitations or injuries, by showing them which poses are therapeutic, which should be avoided and how to modify other poses so that yoga will become a lifelong commitment.
Semi-Private Yoga:
I can accommodate a class of up to 3 students at a time in my home studio. Or, if you are close by and would like me to teach in your own home, that can be arranged.
Specialized Topics:
I would love to come present to your group! If you have a topic you want to cover, let me know and I can educate your group on many different subjects relating to movement and yoga. I have presented workshops on yoga for golfers, cyclists, bone density, postural awareness, and building your own home practice.
